What does it mean to be an ASE Certified Master Technician?

ASE actually stands for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. This is the organization that monitors all technicians within the program, provides the training and gives the testing.

In order to pass an ASE test, you must pass the examination as well as meet an experience requirement (on the job). These tests are valid for a period of five years, at which time you must re-certify or lose your certification. This re-certification process makes sure that all technicians keep up to date and continue with training.

ASE has eight different areas of competence. They are:
· Engine Repair
· Automatic Transmission/Transaxle
· Manual Drive Train and Axles
· Suspension and Steering
· Brakes
· Electrical/Electronic Systems
· Heating and Air Conditioning
· Engine Performance

Once you have passed just one test, you can call yourself an ASE Technician. BUT, in order to be an ASE Certified Master Technician, you must pass all eight tests and they must all be current at the same time. If just one test lapses, you will lose your Master Technician status. Precision Auto has an Education Reimbursement Program for our employees to encourage continuing education.

Precision Auto is very proud to say that all our technicians are currently ASE Certified Master Technicians!
