What is the difference between repairs and routine maintenance?
Repairs are services that are required or necessary when something on your vehicle is not working properly. Also, when your vehicle has worn to the point where a replacement is required to maintain the performance of your vehicle.
Maintenance is the routinely scheduled services, inspections and part replacements that your vehicle manufacturer recommends based on the age or mileage of your vehicle. The schedule for performing these maintenance services varies from vehicle to vehicle.
You will find the schedule for your vehicle in your owner's manual. Following this schedule is the best way to make sure your vehicle is performing as it should.
If I don’t do the routine maintenance as recommended, will the Dealer still honor my extended warranty?
Dealers are making it clear that they will not stand behind your warranty if the routine maintenance, as outlined in your owner’s manual, is not preformed. But remember, you can get that maintenance done anywhere. You DO NOT need to go to the Dealer for these services. We can do any service and we keep electronic records for you.
What else do I need to know to protect my vehicle’s warranty?
When getting system flushes (coolant, brake, power steering, transmission, etc) make sure the facility is using the manufacturer’s recommended fluids. Dealers are now taking fluid samples when faced with a warranty issue. If they determine that an incorrect or non compliant fluid has been used in your vehicle, it may void your manufacturer’s warranty. Here at Precision Auto we use the same fluids that came in your vehicle from the factory.
My Check Engine Light is on. What does it mean?
It means your vehicle's computer system has self-diagnosed some kind of problem. The "Check Engine" light is there to signal you when a problem occurs that may require attention. This can include anything from a momentary hiccup to a failure of a major electronic component. There's no way to know what the light means without running a diagnostic scan on the system to determine the nature of the fault.
Why do you charge a fee to diagnose my Check Engine light when some places will give you the check engine light code for free?
Some shops will advertise a “free check engine light scan” or will “pull the code for free.” They will hook up a scanner to your vehicle and give you the code. Unfortunately, each code refers to several possible problems so the code number will not help you. You will still need a qualified technician to diagnose the problem. We are honest with our customers and let them know what the cost will be upfront.
How often should I have my oil changed?
You should have your oil changed every 3,000 miles or as recommended in your vehicle’s owners manual.
Do your ASE Certified Technicians do oil changes?
Yes. And every oil change comes with a free 27-point courtesy check. So you can be sure that a properly qualified technician is looking over your vehicle to make sure everything is ok.
How often should I rotate my tires?
You should rotate your tires every 6,000 miles, or with every other oil change.
I have lost my vehicle owner’s manual. How can I find out when my maintenance services need to be done?
We can help. We subscribe to several online information systems. We can tell you what needs to be checked on your vehicle at any mileage interval.
Why do you ask new customers for a $25.00 deposit for Saturday appointments?
Saturday is a very busy day and our appointments book up fast. Often times there are customers waiting for an appointment. The $25.00 deposit is applied to your invoice total. If you give us notice when you can’t keep an appointment your deposit will be refunded.
Do you have rental cars?
We have rental cars on-site. You do not need to be shuttled to a different location to pick up a car.
How do I get a free rental car for the day while you are servicing my vehicle?
Any vehicle service totaling $360.00 or more qualifies you for a free 1-day rental car. Your insurance covers the rental vehicle at no additional cost to you (must be full coverage insurance).
